Job Summary
- Responsible for maintenance and operational readiness of purchased equipment and supplies. Coordinate purchasing, delivering, distributing, storing, and maintaining supplies, inventory, and equipment. The logistics specialist is an integral part of maintaining response readiness for the organization, managing inventory, and ensuring all equipment is in good working order and that resources to meet the mission are available.
- Other responsibilities include the operation of heavy-duty vehicles, truck/trailer combinations, forklifts, and equipment/tools associated with the maintenance of equipment and supplies.
- In this role, there may be the opportunity for regional or statewide deployment in the event of a large-scale natural or man-made disaster. Deployments will be on an as-needed basis and will be limited in duration.
General Accountabilities
- Operation and general maintenance of Hangar / Warehouse facility.
- Greets visitors and ascertains names and other pertinent information. Accepts deliveries of equipment/supplies. Notifies the appropriate responsible person of arrival.
- Operating a forklift safely to manage inventory and supplies, including loading and unloading pallet racks and trucks/trailers to conduct inventory or construct/improve mission-ready packages.
- Performs routine user-level inspections and maintenance of trailers, vehicles, and other assigned equipment utilizing checklists, completing documentation of preventative maintenance and services, and ensuring high accuracy.
- Performs routine user-level inspections and maintenance of trailers, vehicles, and other assigned equipment offsite in locations throughout the region and the State to ensure readiness of forward deployed resources.
- Delivers, tracks, and retrieves equipment and vehicles from vendors for complex maintenance and services. When required, works with division leadership to facilitate pricing and coordinate repair work for equipment, trailers, and vehicles
- Updates and maintains customer relationship management system
- Assists with mobilization of response resources and demobilization and recovery of equipment and supplies engaged in response to disaster, exercise, or other activities.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
- Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience:
- One year of logistics or emergency response experience, 3-5 years preferred
- License/Certification:
- Must possess a current valid Texas driver’s license or be able to obtain one within 30 days of hire. Class A CDL or equivalent preferred.
- Fire Service, EMS, and Hazardous Materials certification/training preferred.
