Regional Resuscitation Committee

The Regional Resuscitation Committee was formed in May of 2018 with hospital and pre-hospital representation from agencies across all regional acute care committees. This committee is focused towards an all inclusive approach to the care for cardiac arrest and sepsis patients. This approach includes the four pillars of care:

  • Education and Public Awareness
  • AED Use
  • Promote Correct CPR
  • 911 Dispatcher Assisted CPR

Take Heart America states, "Every year, approximately 600,000 seemingly healthy people collapse when their hearts stop working, often without warning. Many die because of inadequate care." The Southwest Texas Regional Advisory Council brought together subject matter experts in the fields of Cardiology, Neurology, Nephrology, Gastroenterology, Pediatrics, Rehabilitation, Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), Pulmonology, Critical Care, and Internal Medicine to address this challenge in a coordinated approach without silos.
